Allergens, and
what we can promise.
You are trusting us with what your family eats. Here is exactly how we handle that, including the parts we cannot guarantee.
1. Allergens we handle in the production factory
Our production factory handles the following, and they are present in the same building:
PeanutsTree nutsMilkEgg FishCrustaceansMolluscsSoySesame Gluten (wheat)MustardCelerySulphitesLupin
2. What we can promise
- You set allergies and intolerances per person, once. Every meal that person receives is built to exclude them.
- Ingredients for a flagged plan are prepared with separate boards, utensils and containers.
- Every meal is labelled with the person it is for and the allergens excluded.
- Recipes carry a full ingredient list. You can read it before you choose the meal.
3. What we cannot promise
We cannot guarantee any meal is completely free of a given allergen. We take real steps to avoid cross-contact, but we cook many dishes in one production factory and no shared kitchen anywhere can promise zero trace.
If a reaction would be severe or anaphylactic, please take that into account when deciding whether Kitcha is right for that person. We would rather lose the order than mislead you.
4. Nutrition figures
Calories, sodium and nutrition are calculated from recipes and standard ingredient values. They are close estimates, not laboratory analysis. Natural ingredients vary between batches and seasons.
5. Cold chain and temperature
Meals are cooked fresh for the day they are for. Bulk soup is chilled promptly after cooking and stays chilled until it reaches you. Insulated boxes are used for every delivery.
Once a delivery reaches you, safe storage and reheating becomes your responsibility. Reheating instructions are on the container.
6. Standards we hold ourselves to
Our production is being built around HACCP principles: identifying where things can go wrong, controlling those points, and recording it. Staff are trained in food handling before they work a shift.
Kitcha has not begun commercial operations. This describes the standard our production factory is being built to meet from day one. Specific certifications will be published here once issued.
7. If something goes wrong
Tell us the same day if you can, so we can trace the batch. Write to support@kitcha.ng. If a dietary requirement was not respected we treat it as a food safety incident, refund in full, investigate, and write back to you with what we found. See the service guarantee.
If someone is having a reaction, seek medical help first. Tell us afterwards.
